a mining card in relation to mining cryptocurrencies is a gaming graphics card that is used for mining. currently mostly amd cards are used for mining, as mining programs to a great extent can only use the opencl technology of the amd cards, as supposed to cuda on nvidia cards.

Well I believe there are special cards called AHCI cards specifically meant for mining, but essentially it just means a card that is very efficient in solving the algorithms that award you with crypto. AMD cards are much better at it than Nvidia ones.
