Alternatives to Parsec?

Can anyone recommend any alternatives to parsec for creative work.

I mainly use it to remote into my home PC from my laptop, allowing me to edit videos remotely.

I have recently found parsec to cause my PC to lock up as a whole. 

Unless I can figure out how to fix it I need to find an alternative program to use because it is causing major problems for my workflow.

Ideally I need something that is low latency and doesn't manipulate the colour/sound too much if at all in sending so that I can at least get an idea of sound/colour when editing. (I generally do finishing touches to both at home on reference hardware, but its good to be able to get it in the right ball park while away)
