Active core count issue

Hey all

 

I recently upgraded my pc, got everything up and running. installed Intel extreme tuning utility. The active core count is always at one no matter what im doing. If i run a stress test, benchmark or any game it remains at one active core at all times. even the recent minimum and maximum are staying at one. I have reinstalled windows, i have set bios to default and windows is not set to restrict cores. I have also reinstalled intel XTU but nothing changes. My max core frequency is saying -3.20GHz most of the time but im not sure if that means anything. Games seem to be running fine and my temps are fine. All drivers are up to date

i9 12900k

Asus Rog Strix z 690-F mobo

32gb Corsair vengeance 5200MHz RAM

RTX 2080ti

Asus Rog Thor 1200w psu

Try using HWINFO. It sounds like Intel XTU has a bug reporting the active cores.

 

Open the Task Manager and see if it reports 16 cores and 24 logical processors. 

 

Some Windows 11 virtualization features can block monitoring software from reading some of the CPU registers. 

 

Run a consistent test like Cinebench R23. Watch the CPU speed in HWINFO while this test is running. Do a Google search to see how your results compare to others.

Everything i have checked says 16 cores 24 threads. i will do what you have said here and get back to you! Thanks you!
