Hi Forum i was consern about my brother gave me his, Dual Radeon™ RX 6600 XT OC Edition because he bought a rtx 3080 and i was wonder since all pages where i find specs on it it say support pcie 4.0x8 does it mean it only support that or does it mean it can support up to pcie 4.0x8 bc i use a asus rog strix z270h with 2x pcie3.0x16

It will operate at PCIe 3.0 x8 without issue in a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot.

 

The lanes are what it's wired for, you can't take a x8 and make it an x16 card, it doesn't have the pins to operate at that higher lane count HOWEVER PCIe generations are forwards and backwards compatible and you can go down in lanes on a higher lane slot without issue.

yes, the GPU will operate at PCIe 3.0 x8 on your setup

No, it's electrically wired for 8 lanes, you cannot make it take more even if they exist in the slot.

To add to my above it also doesn't matter either. The 6600 XT will see ZERO performance impact at x8 compared to x16 (even between 3.0 and 4.0) anyway even if the card physically had the traces to operate at x16. If it were running at x4 though that would see an impact to performance.
