You would update the bios with your current cpu. After you have confirmed it has updated (Check in bios) then you would install the 5600X.

The bios version that supports the 5600X is listed as 'Beta' so I personally wouldn't use it yet, as you don't know how stable it is.

I've have updated the bios and I will install the 5600x soon, "Beta" is quite vague and it wouldnt be posted if its going to be that unstable.

What’s the worst that will happen? Display doesn’t pop up? I’ve got a Tomahawk MAX ii in case of the worst…

Hard to say. With it being beta it just means it hasn't been fully tested, so it could be buggy/unstable etc. If you have a Tomahawk I would just use that, as it is a much better board and it has bios flashback as well. The bios for the 5600X is also a full release.

The tomahawk is from a friend for £45 so I will buy it if my board isn’t capable

That new or 2nd hand ? I probably wouldn't pay more than £35 if used and little to no warranty. The Tomahawk is currently £70 an Amazon, but I am pretty sure I have seen it, and boards like the B450 Mortar Max closer to £60.
