looks like you pressed on the panel and it shifted closer to the backlight, Dell's don't always have a glass panel in front of the LCD to protect it so any force can shift the display.

it's risky but opening the display or loosening the screws can shift it back to the right gap between LCD and backlight.

Hmm I'll try that when there's no real options other than getting a replacement which is a a bit pricey so thanks for the recommendation!
