Budget (including currency): $1000 USD

Country: Hungary

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Just to stream, the games will be played on my main PC

Hi!

So I started streaming on Twitch in January. My main game is Minecraft, and I can really feel the performance drop when I stream. I want to play a whole bunch of games in the near future too, so I thought it would be a great idea to build a PC just for the streaming tasks.

I would like to ask you, that what is important for an only streaming PC? What kind of CPU, RAM and GPU would you recommend?

Thank you for helping!

Best regards!

It all depends on your main PC. YOu didn't list the parts.

I just have my laptop, Lifebook S752 and it can run OBS and stream on a preety good quality, HD 1080p. My specs are: 8 gigs of RAM and an Intel Core i5-3340M @ 2.70GHz with an iGPU.

Now, if you need better quality or more FPS when streaming, I recommend the following build:

AMD Ryzen 3 4300GE - CPU

No GPU, just the iGPU the CPU comes with

8GB (Minimun) or 16GB of RAM

A 128GB SSD just to run OBS, and a larger HDD if you need to record and save gameplays

Just pick a motherboard that is compatible with the AMD Ryzen 3 4300GE CPU

A 300-watt PSU is perfect for this build.

A simple PC case with fans

I'm sure this build can work.

**YOU NEED A CAPTURE CARD TO RECORD AND STREAM FROM THE MAIN PC, I RECOMMEND ELGATO HD60.**

Wait thats what you have? Or want?

Cuz this rig shouldn't even remotely have an issue with minecraft. UNLESS you are using the cpu to stream instead of te nvenc encoder for your gpu.

Given your current specs, streaming Minecraft, much less any other modern game in existence, would without a doubt be perfectly fine. The build recommended by conflict would perform several times worse than your current build. From the looks of it, you might instead be having software issues, and as such you probably should throw a question there.

As @Emergence177013said, your PC is more than capable of streaming and gaming at the same time.

Is there a reason you're using the Elgato to capture from the same system?

In the Elgato software, I believe they released an update years back that allows for the use of GPU accelerated recording/streaming. OBS will work similarly if you decide to skip the capture card. GPU accelerated video encoding will greatly reduce the CPU load and since it uses a different "piece" of your GPU, it shouldn't noticeably affect gaming performance.

Thank you for the answers! So the performance drop should be a software issue, OBS encodes with NVENC. It would not worth it to invest in a streaming PC?

Thank you too! I only use the capture card to record from my PlayStation, usually I don't use it.

Not at all worth investing in a streaming pc. This is purely a software issue your current pc is an absolute beast for streaming.

Like my friend streams minecraft a couple days a week 1080P 60fps (usually modpacks) on a i7 7700k + gtx 1070 and it'ss been a darn smooth ride for years.
