A Router Question

My home currently has this EE Brightbox, and while it does it's job i feel i could benefit better from a router bought myself.

 

Now I've got myself an ASUS AC68 Wireless card to go with my new MB so i naturally (imo) looked @ the matching RT-AC68u router.

 

Is it worth the cost? (£172.25 according to amazon at time of writing this post) or is there a cheaper (or sub £100) option(s) that will do the job just fine?

No there aren't any Wireless AC routers in the sub 100 range. If you do not need the higher AC bandwidth within your home(file server, media streaming to TV etc.), you can opt for a wireless N router which are much cheaper and does the job pretty well.

Asus RT-AC68u is a very good choice for a router and you should go with it.

I would also go with the Asus.

There is a sub 100 quid one, the TP-Link Archer C7 AC1750, but I doubt that it will be any faster than a good wireless N router. Also when it comes to routers I had not the best experiences with TP-Link.

Well i do stream movie's from my NAS , as does my mum from time to time. Aswell as transferring stuff to and from it from my pc. Hmmm.

Well i guess that solidified my answer then, was looking @ the ASUS alot but the price kept me trying to search for alternative's. Now to save 170 quid lol
