3g modems

Hello,

 

I live in a rural area in Thailand with no internet connection, all i can do is buy a 3g simcard and put it in modem, but the modems they have here are verry slow.

 

Does any1 know what modem/router i should buy and if there is a way to boost the signal, my friend has a zre mf60 modem and its rly rly rly bad!

 

i could not find a definate guide on how to judge a modem or what brands are good, any suggestions or links would be highly helpfull!
