So I know there’s a lot that comes into play with the cores and threads in a CPU when it comes to gaming. My current build specs are -

— EVGA FTW3 RTX 3080 TI

- Intel i5-9600k

- GIGABYTE Z390 ARORUS PRO WI-FI

- Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16gb DDR4 3200mhz(Two 8gb sticks)

- Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD 1T

- Corsair RMX 750w fully modular PSU

- Corsair ICUE 5000x RGB mid-tower

- Corsair ICUE H150i RGB Pro 360mm

- 27” 1080p 144hz ASUS Monitor

From here I feel like my graphics card is good but I don’t know how to get the most improvement that won’t break the bank.

The games I play are pretty simple, CALL OF DUTY(any of them) and Minecraft are honestly the 2 kind of games I play.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, I would really like to stay under $500 for upgrades but to stay away from that number if possible. I’m really looking for the best price/performance upgrade. Thank you

do your games you play not run well?

RTX on or off?

When i have customers complain about performance issues, i usually run what they use (game or whatever application) while having system usage stats on another screen, thats the first step to work out what you need in a simple way.

Id suggest doing that first to narrow the scope for yourself

The only big thing i see is a 6c6t cpu in 2022. You could sell that thing and buy a i7 9700k and you should be in budget.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

Personally I would recommend upgrading your monitor to QHD, it's a major step over 1080p and will help the potential of the 3080ti be fully realized, otherwise I would throw in a faster CPU because at 1080p that CPU may actually be throttling your GPU.

Interesting, any monitor suggestions?

With a i7 9700k upgrade, would I need to swap PSU or MOBO?

nope, that is why i recommended it.

But looking back at it, an even better idea would be to get a 4k 120hz monitor, should be around 500/600$ now.

Or if you need something cheaper, LG nano IPS 1440p 165hz monitor is like 400.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

Well if you are fine with some imperfections in a curved monitor for the budget the VG27WQ for $300 USD works, if you would prefer a flat with little to no imperfections for the same price the Acer XV272U would also be fine. If you are fine with over budget the Samsung Odyssey G7 LC27G75TQSNXZA would be a valid option.
