Screwdriver and backup reservations

Watched the WAN show a couple of days ago.

 

Linus doesn't want to take pre-orders for the backpack or screwdriver due to not wanting to f**& us. Fair point with companies using it as a cash grab.

 

I had a thought where they could take something akin to the steam deck. 10 or 20 bucks for a pre-order list reservation which would also give a reservation for first drop for the first couple of days. Free cancelation into store credit if you don't go through with it or cancel it.

 

If people go out to do it, they would be into LTT enough to buy something else in case the order gets delayed for a significant amount of time.

 

It would give the order some semblance of finality, and give the LTT group some extra cash flow for more orders. While not outright potentially screwing us (Which Linus did not want to).

 

Just a thought.

It also adds an infinitely larger amount of administration effort which they already have in short supply
