Hello, I had this problem before, then windows 10 decided I need an update, which has caused this issue to reoccur and I cant seem to get it dealt with.

I have an ASUS ROG Strix G17 G712 laptop and a seagate external 4TB SSD which was originally branded and used for my xbox but repurposed for my laptop, when I had originally done this, I had this same issue and managed to get rid of it, but now I cant, and before anyone asks I cant change advanced power settings to disable "turn off harddrive after X" as the setting just doesnt appear.

The SSD is connected to the USB3.2 gen2 type-C port, it is listed as a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C support DisplayPort I dont know if that means I cant use a SSD with it, because seemingly I can until a few hours in and it decides to just reboot my SSD, so im not too sure if that is the problem. Thats pretty much all the information I can provide unless asked for more,

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this and hopefully respond

I've had things disconnect if anyone within a few yards/meters of the wires moved.  I've had things disconnect if the wire moved in any direction following too much turning of the connector at the end of the wire.  I've had things just start disconnecting (atmospheric pressure?  boot wrong?) I have had a lot of  connection issues since they limited us to usb cables and usb connectors.  doesn't rog strix have an m.2 expansion?  can you put the m.2 from the ssd into the laptop expansion?

are you suggesting that I open up both my laptop and SSD and slap the stick from the SSD into my laptop?

I am not exactly suggesting that.  I am suggesting seeing if that is possible as a first step.  I read that rog strix laptops have 2 m.2 so that you can add an m.2 drive.  I also read that some ssd allow you to take out an m.2.  I have no idea if your ssd is made for such a thing.

I'll look into it, because so far that seems to be the easiest and most reliable solution if I can do it properly, thanks
