Hi there! So I’ve just installed a new NVMe SSD onto my motherboard and loaded it up. I’ve not initialised it yet because I’m going to wipe my board soonish. (In a day or two.)

However there is this weird green pixel effect on certain apps. Like steam or League of Legends etc. But it doesn’t affect things like the task manager etc.

There is a new update for my GPU which I’m installing now but if this doesn’t fix it, what is it and how can I fix my pc?

Here’s a picture for reference.

I'm not seeing any obvious green pixels in your photo, and the video you embedded only contains sound and no images.  I did have a green pixel issue on my work machine and swapping cables alleviated it.

Oh huh. I wonder why the video didn’t work. Well it’s hard to see on the photo but if you look at Phasmaphobia it shows the green pixel effect on the little picture.

Would I really need to swap cables as it was fine what 2 days ago when I was last on it? And I didn’t touch them at all when I was putting in the SSD

These show it better

There's an accessibility feature that can make yellows appear green, but that's a Windows setting that should affect everything.

I don't badmouth others' input, I'd appreciate others not badmouthing mine. *** More below ***

Where is that setting? Though I’ve not changed that myself at all? I did get this as a notification but I’m not sure it means anything

How are you connected to your monitor? Whatever it is, it almost looks like poor digital connection. I'd try unplugging the HDMI / DisplayPort cable from the video card and then plug back in. (If the driver update didn't fix anything).

It’s an oooooold monitor. It’s a VGA to HDMI connector. I tried resetting the GPU and it’s made it somewhat better? But I can still notice some effects

Tighten that VGA end on both ends of your dongle and monitor. Make sure it's tighter than a nuns.... wallet.

I’ll try that in a second lol. Well I just wanted to double check if it WAS the connection and well I’m using a small HD tv (not a monitor I know but hey it has a HDMI port) and from what I can see I can’t see any green pixels. Let me show pictures for reference. (It looks like crap but no pixels as far as I can see)

Compared to the other phasmophobia one it looks cleaner.

@XxRescueRabbitxXYeah, sure seems like shoddy connection between VGA to HDMI dongle. See it all the times here at the office. Our Power Trading desk has two computers connected to a wall of monitors (6 per computer). There was time when they used DisplayPort to DVI dongles and if anyone of the connections wasn't perfect... you'd get "pink" pixels. I've seen green in other situations, might have something to do with the type of signal or just the luck of the draw. But certainly seems like poor connection. 🙂

So you think that my GPU is alright and properly seated cause that was my biggest worry.  Like it’s just a bad connection with the dongle that’s all?

so do you recommend I use my tv up until I can sort myself out a HDMI to HDMI monitor or till I can get a new VGA to HDMI adaptor?

Honestly if it were me, I'd try to ditch the dongle for a direct native connection for sure. But in the meantime I'd fiddle with the dongle (giggity) to see if could reduce or eliminate the green pixels all together. Just be careful about hairy palms or going blind... jk jk

If you found that the anomaly disappeared when direct connection was made to your TV, then chances are your GPU is OK.

I can try and fiddle with it though I’m not sure it’ll do much to be quite honest, it could be the monitor I assume iswell too?

it seemed to have gone away switching to the tv though the tv looks downright awful as a pc display lol. I mean I’ve not noticed any green pixels thus far. I’ve noticed a weird flickering with one of the games but I’m not sure if that’s the tv’s fault or the GPU’ s. But that was a minor thing in the game.
