Hello, I was wondering if I can get some feedback and see if it is worth upgrading my GPU at this point.

My current setup is

MB: Asus Z97Pro gamer

CPU: 4790K @4.9GHZ water cooled with AIO H110 cooler

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070 SC2

PSU antec 1000W

I do have two simulators, one for flying and one for Racing, and Use VR . For flying im using a 4K monitor and most fly8ng games run smooth. on racing with VR or single monitor i have Acer 144hz 32 in curved. 1080p and i have no problem running most sims on medium to high GPU settings. my system is getting old.

I was wondering if I would benefit from something like a MSI Ventus GeForce RTX 2060 12GB GDDR6 or GIGABYTE Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 ATX Video Card GV-N3060GAMING OC-12GD. on the RTX 3060 i noticed it said it is a PCI express 4.0. I think my MB is a 3.0?? would I be able to run any GPU that is a PCI 4.0? or only PCI 3.0?

OR

should I upgrade MB, CPU, MEMORY first?

thank you

CPU, MBO and RAM first. The RTX 2060 isn't that noticeably faster than the 1070, not worth the upgrade, especially not when the platform bottlenecks.

PCIe is backwards compatible, so you can use a 4.0 part on your board.

The 2060 12GB is only about as powerful as the 1080 non-Ti, so it's not a big improvement from what you have. I'd go to at least a 2070 Super, 3060 Ti, or 6700XT level of performance if you want a reasonable upgrade.

To play at 4K, really, you'd ideally want a 3080 or 6800XT or better, but in that case, you really should upgrade your platform, too.
