Advice on which CPU Cooler...

I am looking to get a CPU Cooler for my PC as I plan to overclock. I've toyed with the idea of having watercooling(h100i) but don't really like the idea of having water inside my pc.

So I have decided I want a Air CPU Cooler, however with so many out there I am undecided.

My PC is a follows

I7 4770k 3.9Ghz

Corsair Vengeance RAM 2 * 4GB (Grr why didn't I just buy LP versions!)

EVGA SC GTX780TI

Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP ATX LGA1150 Mobo

Unfortunately, the NH-D14 doesn't fit and neither does the 140mm Phantek which I liked.

I'd be looking to overclock to like 4.2-4.3Ghz hopefully(If possible).

My budget would be ~£60ish. The less the better really, but would be willing to pay more for better performance. I'd ideally prefer it to be silent.

Cheers guys, really appreciate it :)

Hyper 212 Evo?

I've never used it but I heard it's aight.

I am in the same position, however I will be picking up a Noctua NH-D15.

Which, as you said will not fit in your case.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Sexiness wise i'd choose thermalright silver arrow, but if the D14 doesn't fit, then I gotta assume the Silver arrow won't fit either lol.  Just to clarify, is it not fitting a height issue?  But I'd say Prolimatech Megahalem, Noctua NH-C14 if the D14 doesn't fit.  And phantek also has a cooler similar to the C14, I just can't recall it now.  But you'll have to worry about memory height issues with that.

Lol yea I feel your pain on the clearance issues, I had the Vengeance LP's until I bought the Dominator Platinums, and had to water cool.  We just have cure your fear of water so cpu cooler height isn't an issue lol.  I had a Thermalright Ultra 120 that I bought years ago, then bought a Corsair H70 just to get my feet wet (no pun intended), and now have a custom loop.  Check out the Thermalright Archon, you can orient it up and down so it doesn't interfere with the memorythermalright_archon-sbe-x2_install-6.jpg

It's the memory height that causes issues with the D14, the corsair vengeance ram has high heatsinks which is making me regret getting it now...

ha ha i know what you mean ive got some high profile vengeance. if you move the ram to slot 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 3 then anything should fit

Cheers guys, I have heard really good things about the Evo 212 but I don't think it would be good for OC the 4770k, especially as the Haswell chips get very hot. Been looking at the Phantek PH-TC12DX, should fit, I would just have to move the RAM to slots 2 & 4. Plus the cooler looks sweet!

Go for the NH-U14s it performs very similarly to the D14 but is compatible with all ram, also look into the dark rock pro 3 if it fits. Don't bother with the evo 212 it's good FOR THE MONEY but compared to high end coolers it's crap.

+1 on U14S. If your case can take it, it levels with D14 on two fans. Then there is U12S but I feel there are better performing coolers in that price range.

I agree with everyone saying go with the NH-U14S. The NH-U14S with dual fans performs almost exactly as the D14 but much quieter and takes up LESS space. Here's the review in case you are interested.
