Hello everyone. I have a basic question about adding a hard drive. So, my almost 10 year old hdd is very slow and i was looking to get a ssd for win boot and the hdd for mass storage. i was wondering what would i need to add one, apart from a screw driver, i.e what type of cables if they are needed.

What motherboard are you using?

Moved to Storage Devices.

Pop the side panel off your PC and look for an extra SATA port on the motherboard.

If your PC was designed to hold two hard drives, it may already have a second SATA cable in place. If not, you'll just have to buy an extra cable, like this:

Once you have an SSD installed, you can install Windows onto it and use your hard drive for bulk storage.

We really can't give you a more detailed answer unless we know the make and model of your PC (or motherboard and case if it's not a prebuilt system).

I sold my soul for ProSupport.
