Games keep crashing

Go to solution Solved by peky__blinder,

After updating the BIOS everything is working fine.

Hello there,

I have just recently purchased new PC (I have selected parts manually). So there's been an issue with all sort of games. Currently I own Motherboard: B550 AORUS ELITE V2, Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, GEIL Orion 16GB DDR4 3600mhz, SSD: WD Blue SN550 NVMe SSD 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe, Power Supply: TUF-GAMING-650Bronze, Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, Cooling: COOLER MASTER HYPER 212 and the Case has fine airflow. So I wonder why are games like PUBG or Warzone or Witcher III crashing. Usually for Warzone or Witcher III, the game freezes, and I cannot click on anything or select some other process, but the PC is responsive, I can cycle between the processes but cannot actually select for example Task Manager. I select him but it won't react and I cannot terminate the Warzone process in Task Manager. I've tested the pc in Lost Ark and it is working fine. I did one graphics stress test for like 1 hour and it was Geeks 3D FurMark (I selected HD resolution 8x MSAA Anti-aliasing GPU Stress test). Could someone help me determine if it is a component faulty or I have to do something else?

What does event viewer -> windows logs-> system show. Are there any error or critical level logs around the time of the crash?

What does HWinfo show around that time, any high wattage or temps on any device?

Currently what I was able to find under critical error was the following:

"The description for Event ID 14 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

\Device\Video3
CMDre 00000000 00000200 00000000 00000005 00000042

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table"

Also, there is this error which happened when my pubg game crashed:

"Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

Honestly, this was happening even with the previous graphics drivers, I have updated the driver to the latest version few days ago so it is the same story. I even completely formatted the disc on which is system and installed the system.

Any ideas?

Display driver one is concerning.

I know you said you formatted the drive but try running DDU in safe mode. Make sure all the old GPU drivers are gone.

It that doesn't work let me know what your temps and wattages are when this happens. Just to be sure

Again, the same happens. I have uninstalled the Drivers by using DDU (in safe mode). Now this issue happened twice in a short period of time. One happened at 14:00:51, 2nd crash was at 14:30:38. It is so frustrating.

Well, it could be the power supply although I doubt it. It's 650W so it should be efficient. I would try a different one because you never know. If you overclocked the RAM, revert to stock settings and test the system. I'm presuming this is rather RAM related. I witnessed myself errors like this before. Let us know.

Actually I agree as the GPU does not seem too hot but the driver is crashing.

Either your GPU or PSU is likely bad. I don't remember if I asked but I would try the GPU in another slot first just to be sure. Then if you have a spare GPU or PSU then try that. As 650w is the bare minimum recommended for this GPU
