I/O Port Priority List

I/O is important if you want to plug in any external devices. So, what I/O do you make sure a laptop has when considering purchasing a laptop?

My priority is this:

1. Headphone Jack. I do want to listen to my tunes in peace.

2. USB-A. Still have several devices that require USB-A, so I'll need at least one for an external hard drive.

3. SD Card. My Nintendo Switch has a 128 GB Card, so I'll need one in case the Switch's SD Card needs to be empty out of its photo gallery.

4. USB-C. I only need it if I want to import photos from my iPhone to my laptop via USB-C Cable, but it's not really important for me.

That's it for me. Any other ports on the laptop I don't see a utility for now.

I rarely use laptops, but I'd say USB-A is most important. Then SD slot. Not Micro SD, my current laptop has micro SD and I hate it since all my cameras are full size SD so I need a dongle for my big cards. Then headphone jack.

Oh and the charging port is pretty important too...

I agree on the full-sized SD card reader, which is why I still have my old Acer Aspire 5517 for importing photos. I recently upgraded it from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 so it can still get updates without running an OS that makes it perform like an IBM PC Jr. trying to run Crysis

Highly knowledgeable in all the obscure 2000s hardware & software you'll never need to ask about
