Is this backlight bleed acceptable?

That is quite a bit of backlight bleed, but its all personal subjectiveness. If it bothers you, you can try RMAing the panel with Acer.

You wont most likely see a big difference on another monitor as this is what you can expect from a cheap monitor like that. Unless its noticeable in a normal scenario with lights on in the room, then I don't see why this is a big deal.

I've seen worse. You won't find a monitor without backlight bleed. It's an issue with all backlit monitors.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
