Upgrading CPU and RAM

Hi folks,

 

Looking at upgrading my CPU (Ryzen 7 1700x) and RAM (16G G.Skill SK Hynix) but wanted some clarification before I went ahead with it.

 

Based on my MOBO manufacturers website (MSI x370 SLI PLUS - https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/X370-SLI-PLUS/support#support-cpu), there are RAM compatibility requirements based on the CPU not just the MOBO. I'm planning on getting a 3000 series Ryzen and confident that will be compatible MOBO (after a BIOs update) but will I also have to get RAM that is specifically on the manufacturers website?

Nope. If it worked on 1700x it'll work  on 3000 series. Unless you'll be using it for more demanding tasks I wouldn't upgrade from 16gb. Also welcome to the forums!
