Issues with WiFi

Hi,

I'm having problems with lag, ping spikes when using WiFi. Living in a flat, there are many WiFi networks nearby and 2.4ghz tp link access point (tl-wa901nd) isn't ideal, but I think the problem is with my PC. You see, on my phone when I ping access point there aren't large ping spikes ever (like jumps sometimes to 100ish ms, otherwise is usually around 2 - 3ms). But on the PC on the other hand I get extreme spikes of thousands of ms, also packet loss happens, which is infuriating when it happens while I'm playing League of Legends, or any online game). Since my PC is literally 2.5 meters away from access point (no walls between) this is very weird. I'm using Asus USB n10 nano b1 WiFi adapter plugged into USB 3.0 port on the front of my case (got one tp link and one d link adapter also, but stopped using them since they didn't work sometimes, I guess they had faulty drivers, cz this Asus works fine whole time, no unrecognised USBs) (also plugged into 3.0 USB port because 2.0 USB port just randomly disconnects USB for a few seconds, doesn't happen with USB 3.0 port). I don't know what to do, I'm thinking of buying 5ghz access point and WiFi adapter, but it ain't cheap, and I don't know if it would fix the problem. And cz my phone doesn't get this ping spikes I don't think that WiFi interference is the problem. Also these ping spikes usually get fixed temporarily when I restart access point (guess changing the channel fixes it somehow).

P.S. there isn't interference from Bluetooth adapter since it is plugged to the back of the case and is always turned off (rarely used).

And do you think something like this would help - Asus USB-AC56 (cz I also had tp link wireless pcie card with 2 antennas and it was even worse with packet loss)

Invest into a accesspoint with Wireless AC/AX

Invest into a PCIE wificard with Wireless AX (should be round 30 bucks)

I would only use the 5Ghz band as it can provide faster speeds only thing is the range will be a bit less but thats also a good thing as you wont have a lot of other wifi networks that can hinder your performance.

2,4ghz is only useful for its larger range but tends to have a lot of wifi networks on the same channel in crowded areas

As close as you are to the access point even if you were dealing with channel congestion you should be able to blow through it given the short distance.

I've had solid luck with TP link as budget access points....at least the 5ghz capable ones. I agree with the advice above this is likely an access point issue and to upgrade. TP links AC1350 is only $60 from Amazon / USD.
