Budget (NO BUDGET):

Country: Switzerland/EU

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Music Prouction, Light Gaming, Photoshop, 3D rendering

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Upgrading from a 2018 macbook. Friend wants a maxed out pc. Something that will be able to handle his music production needs. We already know that were gonna go for 64 gbs of ram. Something strong. Something that THROWS SOMETHING BACK. Whenever you throw something at it. Please advise a cpu, motherboard, cpu cooler, gpu case, etc etc. Pre-build are also welcome.

Thank you

For CPU, I'd go 5900X or 5950X. Something like a 12900K/KS would work, but they suck power and get hot. You'll need a much more robust cooling solution for that. Personally, there's not enough of a performance differential in productivity to make it worth it, as far as I've seen, but if you want "maxed out", for the moment that's probably king of the hill.

For RAM, 3600MHz CL16 or better. I'd go for 2x32GB, if you can get it, as that would give you more headroom to potentially OC it or tighten the timings. 4x16GB will work, but you'll already be stressing the IMC with that. If you do go the 4x16GB route, make sure they're single ranked.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D · Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S Chromax.black · Motherboard: Gigabyte Auros X670 Elite AX · RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL30 · Graphics Card: Zotac NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super Twin Edge OC 12GB · Boot Drive: 1TB XPG Gammix S70 Blade NVMe SSD · Game Drive: 2TB WD SN850X NVMe SSD · PSU: Seasonic Focus GX V3 1000W 80+ Gold · Case: Fractal Design North Mesh · Monitor: MSI Optix MAG342CQR 34” UWQHD 3440x1440 144Hz · Keyboard: EPOMAKER x Aula F99 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard · Mouse: Logitech G309 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse

You're right. His budget is about 4-5k euros.

Lol right when you set a budget: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hP4nmk

This is what maxed out with no budget looks like without going for server grade or Threadripper. For Music production you don't need a 3090. If he games, then get him a 3080 or 3080 Ti for "maxed out".

Sorry I probably edited my post. Refresh plz. Build Specs Below.

I would recommend getting a DDR5 motherboard with DDR5 memory if you are going 12th gen intel. Otherwise, if you don't want to do that, get a 5950x with a x570 motherboard with 3600Mhz CL 16 RAM.

The only reason 12th gen is worth it is if you can get DDR5 RAM. Otherwise you are just overpaying for the same performance, consuming more power and running things hotter.

Also if you go 12th gen Intel, with DDR5 get a 1000w PSU
