EDIT: I have changed the link as cart updates and suggestions are made.

Budget: So far my goal is to keep the budget around $1200USD but it is flexible as I will be purchasing parts over the next few months rather than as a lump

Country: USA (Central Pennsylvania)

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Main use is a home pc for 3d modeling/printing and light gaming, I do however reserve that mostly for my consoles (fallout 4, maybe some COD)

Other details:

Here is a link to a list I threw together on PC part picker. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7N87Dc I have no graphic card picked for now because I have no clue what to opt for and really hoping to wait for a price drop due to budget.

I currently have nothing aside from some older HDMI monitors, but do not plan to include them in this budget for now and want to nail down a pc for now. a basic 1080 monitor will suit me, I dont think i really need 4k.... do I?

i greatly appreciate any help just letting me know if there are any bottlenecks or any general input on things I may have overlooked as this is my first attempt at any pc building and I'm rather ignorant to the subject. I just went generically through and chose things that didn't list an issue with others lol.

Got it as close to $1200 as I could. Maybe someone can help bring the price down more, but this should do you well if you can stretch the budget a bit more.

my budget doesn't include a graphics card at this time, I plan to add one later down the road. I had picked some of my components for aesthetic reasons too (mainly the case and ram, of course lol). Any reason you opted to go for the i5 and a graphics card instead of an i7 with integrated and waiting on a card for a few months?

i7 integrated graphics might be kind of limited for 3d modeling work, you should be fine though. What I did was I borrowed a 1650 from a friends until I got a 3060ti at msrp, that served me pretty well, although it was kind of a unique circumstance that I don't expect many people to find themselves in. Whatever you decide as far as GPUs go, I would definitely replace your power supply with an Enermax Revolution 850w. It's got 250 extra watts for the same price, and has not let me down so far.

Thank you, I'll definitely take a look!

wait until you have the entire budget then buy everything at once, you're wasting warranty time and making returns harder if something is dead on arrival.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

If you're doing 3d modeling, I would recommend more than a i7 with integrated graphics. You can still get an i7 with a gtx 1650, and be well better off. It's not the greatest for what you're trying to do, but it will be much better.

  • 6 months later...

Oh man, two months after first boot. Ended up with an i7-11700kf on a z490 ultra, 1060 6gb ssc, 32(16x2)gb 3200 mhz trident z, and a 240 mm aio, mostly via bargain hunting. CPU was a gift from a friend for some traded labor rest was solid deals. Good fun, looking to move into a larger case and add a custom loop, and obviously a better gpu.
