Could you give us some info on particularly what's he doing? We'd be able to know what parts need to be emphasized on.

For longevity, the 2500k based build looks good. But, if the person is using their PC for "General use", do they really require a 2500k and 16gb of RAM? 

 

EDIT: Just realised it was an i5 in the build plan. I'm tired, it's 5am here. :D

middle one is a 2500k

Sad part is, I took time to make sure it was all compatible.. you'll have to tune down the ram so the voltage isn't too high, other then that you're good. 

Oh cmon at least mines not over priced for no reason. You can get those blu ray drives for like $30 cheaper on amazon
