So a couple days ago my internet was not working on my PC, it was working fine before and now it just suddenly stopped. My PC said it had internet access and I can download game updates in steam but I cannot sign into friends or go online, but I can play games on steam on online serves. Whenever I type any web address in my web browsers I get a DNS resolution error from cloud flare. I was recently using their dns server 1.1.1.1 and it’s alternate 1.0.0.1 and was working fine up until now. I have checked in the command prompt and pinged website with 0% packet loss. But when I go to search in the web browser the address I am blocked and received a error 1001 DNS resolution error. I have tried network resetting, restarting the router, my pc, I have reset my ipconfig and flushed all dns settings but to no avail. If anyone can help I would be truly grateful

I'd suggest trying the following.

Set the default DNS in your router to 1.1.1.1, and alternate to 8.8.8.8 (google dns) or 1.0.0.1 (but google makes more sense for a test to start).

Then set your system's DNS IP to your gateway IP, so same as your router IP.

See if the above works.

if you use cloudflare for primary and alternate, then try googles DNS to make sure your not just having an issue with cloudflare right now.

I have tried getting into my router settings but now I am being blocked by cloud flare again, with error 1003 Direct IP access not allowed. I tried setting 8.8.8.8 to alternate in my network properties but still the same error

Are you trying to access a website using the IP address of the site instead of the hostname? 1003 I would think is specific to trying to access a webpage like "http://142.250.189.4" instead of "www.google.com".

I get the error whenever I try a direct IP address, google, router IP everything, just blocked. And another discovery whenever I removed the dns of 1.1.1.1 and put in another dns say 8.8.8.8 and then try and search. The DNS goes back to 1.1.1.1 even after clearing it

So you can't even access your router correct?

Try setting your system DNS address to your router gateway IP without changing anything on the router, just to see if that gives you access to the router web UI.

Yes that is correct, I am being blocked from my router settings or anything direct IP address. And I changed my DNS to my router gateway IP and I’m presented with the same error 1003

Do you have your system set to use DHCP and get an IP from your router automatically, or do you have a static IP set in your system?

If you set a static IP in your system, try putting it back to "obtain an ip address automatically" and see if that works. Also set to "obtain a DNS address automatically", then reset your network adapter, and once it reconnects try to access your router web UI.

I went into my adapter properties and removes all settings and set them to automatic, made sure that they stayed that way, DHCP was enabled and then I reset my network adapter, I tried again to try the router IP and it gave me the same error of 1003
