1300$ may be around 800 Pounds however you'll get less stuff for 800 Pounds. Pricing in the UK sucks.

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3rjjr

Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker....jr/by_merchant/

Benchmarks: http://pcpartpicker....jjr/benchmarks/

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($189.99 @ Micro Center) <-- Only need an i5-4670k for gaming.

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  ($29.98 @ OutletPC) <-- Excellent purchase for overclocking and is very quiet.

Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($99.99 @ Newegg)<-- Motherboard doesn't impact performance. This is an excellent option as it has all the features you will ever need, as well as being SLI capable in case you decide to upgrade.

Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($64.99 @ Newegg) <-- Get the least expensive 1600Mhz, 9-9-9-24, 1.5v RAM you can find.  Brand doesn't matter

Storage: PNY XLR8 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  ($59.99 @ TigerDirect) <-- Excellent SSD for the price.  Can go 240GB for $90.

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($54.98 @ OutletPC) <-- Quality HDD, can go 2TB for $85

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card  ($489.99 @ Newegg) <-- Excellent Card, with your budget, get at least a 780.  MSI sometimes has a sale on their 780 for $450 on Newegg.  If that deal isnt available, go for EVGA.

Case: Antec GX700 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($29.99 @ NCIX US) <-- Case doesn't impact performance, get the least expensive case that you like and fill it with high quality case fans.

Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($44.99 @ Newegg) <-- Perhaps the best PSU on the market for its price.  Excellent value, price to performance is unbeatable, semi-modular and very quiet.

Total: $1064.89

(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

(Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-04-14 19:32 EDT-0400)

Be on the look out for Cougar Vortex PWM fans.  They often go on sale for $10 on Tigerdirect and Newegg.com  they are some of the best case fans that you can buy for their price.  I have 5 of them, they are fantastic.

If you SLI in the future, you will need a bigger PSU, but if you don't plan to SLI for 2+ years, don't buy an expensive PSU from the start.

I'm a firm believer in not skimping out on parts, but I also don't believe in paying more when there are no performance gains to be had.  You can build a very powerful computer for around $1100 that will last you for a long time while still being upgrade ready.

This is not buildable using PCPartPicker UK. The Mobo isnt available + the price without Mobo is already £850. With 1300 USD in USA he can buy a build with 780, but in UK with £800 the best he can get is 770.

This is what I would buy

Thanks all for the advice, Will the Intel i5 4670k Let the EVGA 780 SC ACX cooling live up to its max potential?

Yes, I have an i5 and EVGA GTX 780 myself and they work together amazingly well.  With your budget, anything less than a GTX 780 is not spending your money in the right areas.

Here is an updated build using UK PcP:

PCPartPicker part list: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3spC6

Price breakdown by merchant: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3spC6/by_merchant/

Benchmarks: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3spC6/benchmarks/

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£166.99 @ Amazon UK) <-- Great CPU for the price.

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  (£25.20 @ Aria PC) <-- This is an optional component, but is mandatory for overclocking.  It is easier to get it from the start because it requires installing on the motherboard.

Motherboard: MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£62.95 @ Ebuyer) <-- This is a good motherboard for its price, it is not SLI capable, but at his budget, I don't think he will go SLI, so no sense spending more on a motherboard.

Memory: Patriot Viper 3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  (£52.30 @ CCL Computers) <-- Great RAM for cheap.  Get the least expensive 1600mhz, 9-9-9-24, 1.5v RAM you can find.  Brand doesn't matter.

Storage: OCZ Petrol 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  (£30.00 @ Maplin Electronics) <-- I saw this SSD on the UK PcP, it is a very good deal.

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  (£35.94 @ Aria PC)

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card  (£359.74 @ Scan.co.uk) <-- You can make this build happen with a GTX 780, anything less and you didn't get him the best performing build for his money.

Case: BitFenix Comrade ATX Mid Tower Case  (£28.04 @ Aria PC) <-- Case doesn't impact performance, don't spend more than you have to.

Power Supply: EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  (£45.76 @ Amazon UK)

Total: £806.92

(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

(Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-04-15 23:59 BST+0100)

If he wants to spend a little bit more, he could go with a semi-modular power supply that allows for better cable management.  CX600M - 53

This build is barely over budget, but the performance is much better than any other option.  You are spending your money in the appropriate areas to get the maximum performance from your budget.  I repeat, anything less than a GTX 780 is not spending your money in the most important area.  GPU impacts performance more than any other component, you want to spend 40-50% on this part.

Get a better PSU.  It is from a brand that I have never heard of.  600W is all you need for that build.  They are conservative when they say 600W minimum.  I have an i5 and 780 on a CX600M, it works perfectly.

Get some better RAM.  Those timings are weird.  You want the least expensive 9-9-9-24, 1600Mhz, 1.5v 4GBx2 kit that you can find, brand doesn't matter.

The case you selected wont be able to fit that CPU cooler.  You need a case that is at least 195mm in Width, or 7.9".

The CPU cooler you selected is not as good as the Hyper 212 EVO.  They cost the same, get the Hyper 212 EVO.

Other than that, everything looks good.
