Hello,

I have an external drive that isn't being recognized by Windows and I need to get the data off of it. I have checked to see if windows recognizes it in the partition manager (Like Windows just didn't assign it a letter or something) but it didn't appear there either. I think the connector on the external drive is bad.

The data on the drive is very important to me and I would really like to get it back. I am thinking of sending it to a data recovery center but not quite sure where to start. Do y'all have recommendations? Things to look for? Big red flags?

Thanks for all of the help in advance!

It's one of these: https://www.westerndigital.com/products/portable-drives/wd-easystore-portable-3-0-hdd#WDBKUZ0040BBK-WESN

It has a LED light on it but it doesn't turn on when I plug it in, not sure if it is spinning up but I would assume not as the light doesn't turn on
