Ok so my last computer offically died and i went and bought an ibuypower computer from bestbuy cause i was short on time a patience. The rig isnt terrible for the price point, but there are some clear parts to upgrade. The cpu cooler, the fans, ram. Im wondering whats the best orientation for corsair icue h100i elite capellix would be. I have room at the top of the case or the front of the case. I figure the top but dont really know since i have only built one computer before and im really just changing parts out on the new one.

Just because fans fit up top doesnt mean a rad will necessarily fit but the front isnt a bad option either.

That i guess is the question then. There looks to be plenty of room up top and the top of the case does goce way to attach a rad but idk if it would work. And then i have to consoder airflow, cause if i removed the front 3 fans and made that the rad then i only have exhaust and no intake whhich then just becomes changimg fan orientation right?

I would go with the top. With such a long gpu an ideal hoses down configuration would likely touch the gpu. That’s not gonna hurt anything but aesthetics but it’s still preferable to avoid in my opinion.

You could do a front 240 but again aesthetics, you got a fan space which will be empty at the bottom of the front going that way.

Top rad would be my first pick.

Depending on how hot this cpu is, I would also suggest a rear 120/140 depending on how big that rear fan spot is.

If you don’t intend to OC and this isn’t a housefire processor, a 120mm aio would be adequate.

Maybe go with air unless you’re dead set on an aio. A bequiet dark rock pro 4 is like 90$ and would outperform any aio that would fit.

Idk anything about aio its just what is availiable close by and in stock. Thats why it was mentioned specifically

There’s a few reasons for hoses down, the biggest one is that hoses up can create air bubbles which isn’t good for the longevity of the pump. It’s not a huge concern but it’s worth doing to not risk any lifespan of an aio.

What processor is in there and will you be over clocking? If it’s just a regular old 65w chip I’d just look at any regular 120mm tower cooler. Hyper 212 variants, gammaxx 400, arctic freezer 34, etc

most Best Buy locations will have 1-2 types of air coolers alongside their aios if you wanted it fast locally, otherwise just get whatever if you can wait for shipping

Its got an 11th gen intel i7 11700k. No over clocking and the most demanding thing it does is playing games like battlefield 2042, cyberpunk, halo infinite.
