Hey

My old computer is currently running a minecraft server however I thought it could be fun to use it as my router aswell. I currently have a ASUS RT-AC58U v2 AC1300.

What I'd like to do is using my old computer with pfSense and connecting all data through my VPN provider, then use my current rounter as both a switch and for wifi. Is this possible? Any other hardware that I will need?

Guessing I need a more ethernet connectors? A WAN and LAN ethernet connector? (On my old PC)

Yours sincerely,

spannvis

technically you could do both on the same rig, for my personal use I am using proxmox and have pihole(in my eyes similar to pfsense) and a minecraft server on two separate vms on the same machine. Going on the assumption that you do not have internet speeds faster than gigabit having your old rig connected to your router with a gigabit capable cable you should be able to run both without any noticeable performance issues or loss. you likely don't have to do it in vms but that was my preference as i like having them separate.
