Question about Draining my loop

if id remove the pump would it get damaged if it got wet? if so i might just remove the top rad or maybe even the res which is in the front

The outside of the pump wouldn't be waterproof, so yeah... you could damage it if you got water in where the power cable goes.

If you can put a thin puncture in the tube (facing away from the case, and have your tower tilting down so any spillage would just drip away from the case) 

So if you can get the pump outside the case put the puncture just after where it connects.

And then it should slowly drain.

Hey i am thinking of uppgrading my loop to wc my gpu as well but in order to do that i need to drain it now i wounder how on earth would i do that witouth risking any of my components? oh and if you wounder why my gpu is placed there its becasue due to a fitting on the MB block it dont fit where its supposed to be so im gonna turn that fitting a little when i get it drained i dont think it matters where it is tho if im wrong let me know ^^

this is the first custom loop ive done and its been running for a year almost because ive been afraid of draining it when i get some tips on how to and when i will drain it i might re make it entirely and add a drain port or something i was also thinking of draining directly from my big rad in the botttom or my res in the front but i dont know how good it would be

the pic below show how my look goes and i have my rad and pump in the bottom and yeah i know its not looking that great but leds are off and like i said it was my first build.

ive looked at Linus video but i dont know if i can do it that way since my tubes seem to be shorter and since my motherboard is water cooled as well

any tips / ideas is always helpfull can provide more pics of the bottom rad and pump can be fixed as well

also while im at it. . does it matter what block i pick up for my gpu if i go through with my idea? the one im thining of getting is below mostly coz it looks amazing

Firstly, you could remove the water components aka rad,block,pump,res and then you'll be able to drain the liquid without it going on your components.

Firstly, you could remove the water components aka rad,block,pump,res and then you'll be able to drain the liquid without it going on your components.

do you mean all of them? or do you think its enough to just pull the pump / top rad out and do it like Linus do in the video? because removing all of them could be problematic since the MB is connected as well.

how your going to drain your loop is something you plan before you fill it.   cause I see no easy way, tip it on its side and cut a tube.  if you have a wet/dry vac use that to clear the fluid from the lines, if you don't... have lots and lots of paper towel ready.

You could just pull out one part (like a rad or the pump) so that when you remove/ cut the tube the water will be spilling outside the case.

Or you could just pull out every watercooling part and disassemble it out side the case.

how your going to drain your loop is something you plan before you fill it.   cause I see no easy way, tip it on its side and cut a tube.  if you have a wet/dry vac use that to clear the fluid from the lines, if you don't... have lots and lots of paper towel ready.

yeah i kind of planned the tubing bad wanted it to look good which i failed on and now im worried about draining it coz i wont afford to buy any new parts for a long while but i might try to remove something as far away from the pc as possible and remove a fitting. :S

That is exactly what I use in my loop. I've had no problems on mine, and the knob is rather hard to turn so you know they'll be no leakages.

To be 100% sure, you can always add a stop-fitting on the end of the tap.
