600W PSU and 280X Issues

SadisticHades

recently i bought a sapphire 280x to use in my system, after trying to game once it basically turned off the monitors after 10 min. I thought running a silverstone 600W bronze (modular) PSU it would have been fine but now im worried a bit,

im running an i5 2500K clocked at 4.3ghz, three hard drives and an ODD. Oh and 6 case fans, but that shouldn't have to much of an effect. Might be that ive plugged everything on one 12v rail but not sure, kinda worried to try again so ive put my 7850 back in for now

any help would be great, especially if it doesnt require me to buy a new PSU

thanks in advance

there is no way your rig is pulling 600w. it'll be more like 400w under full load. what are the amperages on the 12v rails and how many does it have?

Rig Specs:

AMD Threadripper 5990WX@4.8Ghz

Asus Zenith III Extreme

Asrock OC Formula 7970XTX Quadfire

G.Skill Ripheartout X OC 7000Mhz C28 DDR5 4X16GB

You should have zero issues with that setup and a 600W PSU.  Maybe try and re-seat all of the plugs, but I doubt it is a PSU problem.

another thing thats come up from another forum ive posted on is that the gpu may be the problem as its only the monitors that power off

+1, It's a solid PSU that's got more than enough wattage on a beast 12V rail.

can someone explain what the importance of amperage has in a PSU?

is it a spec thats more crucial than the rated watttage for the psu?
