If your power is going out your computer is hard crashing.  It’s a lot like yanking the power out of the wall while it’s running.   It’s possible a UPS may be a good idea, though it may depend on how long the power goes out for.  Even a smaller one would give your machine time to do a normal shutdown.  There are a bunch of various options from size to behavior and how “smart” a device is which can allow it to do various things.  I’ve seen weird Rube Goldberg type setups to autoshutdown machines using one when a ups detects a power failure.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
