Am also considoring a new pair of AirPods. Current AirPods 2 are nice, but ANC would be nicer. Here is my personal thought process, maybe it can help a lil bit.

 

AirPods 3 are rumored to feature a design change, no ANC. Keep in mind that this is just a rumor. A redesign won't make me urge to get it - function over design.

 

AirPods Pro have the right featureset for me, but one problem - I hate in-in-ears. I'm one of the people where the AirPods 2 fits perfectly and actually doesn't fall off, even with the maximum force I can shake my head. My glasses would fall before the AirPods. You know on airplanes when you land, sometimes it hurts (hurts when landing here in Scandinavia, but never in China) and I use those ear plugs to reduce the difference in pressure. I absolutely hate those.

 

I have also tried AirPods Pro from a friend and concluded that no, I don't perfer the design.

 

Beats Studio is somewhat compelling - cheap-er, has ANC etc. but from some reviews it says that the quality isn't just up there with the Pros, which is expected, but means that Beats Studio is a no-go for me as well.

 

TL:DR

 

Depending on how much you want them, it's a pretty easy choice. Either go with the AirPods Pro now or wait a bit (probably until October during the Mac event), and THEN choose. AirPods Pro will be a great fit for many, but not me.

 

I really hope Apple will put ANC on AirPods 3 and make the design less in-ear than the AirPods Pro, but yeah, I doubt it. My AirPods are on repair right now (left one H1 chip died), but will be back in a few days, and I think I can wait until the October event.

Honestly audio equipment doesnt go obsolete really quickly and pro is already pretty bloody good for a TWS.
