So my partner was just on my pc last night browsing probably 10 twitch streams and I noticed that the gpu fans sounded like they were sitting at 100% keep in mind the temps were fine and there’s no crashes or anything like that, the fan curve is just the Standard one in msi afterburner and even tried adjusting it there but it’s still the same, I haven’t over clocked or anything it just randomly started and the fans won’t actually ramp up till it his the windows sign in page then they just ramp up for some reason any ideas?

You said the temps were fine but did not mention if its saying the GPU is under load when it ramps up.

If the GPU is under load and you aren't using it, I'd be worried some malware is installed doing something.

So as it passes booting up like after the windows logo and stuff, the fans ramp up when it hits the page to put my password to sign into the pc so I’m assuming there’s not much load there?

You'd need to look at the graphs in Afterburner.

Okay I’ll do that, so last night I thought I’d play a few games to see if it would crash or something like that and it was fine so I’m kinda confused, so what am I looking for in these graphs?

Just to see if the GPU usage is high when it should be idle.

Okay sweet I’ll be home in 20 or so and I’ll check that, if it is what would be causing this? As it just started out of no where like earlier that day I was playing the same games I usually do and it was fine

The usage is fine in after burner, but where it says Fan tachometer, rpm it’s just sitting at 0 which isn’t the case cause the fans are sitting at 100 it sounds like 😅 I’m not sure what’s happening I opened GeForce experience and had a look in the performance tab and the fans say it’s at 0rpm there Aswell I don’t know what’s causing this

it says 300mhz right there and is bouncing up to 1500 when Im opening the control panel too look at settings,  I though it was at like 1500 all the time and boosted higher when under load, I know it says +16 there lol was trying to see if it would change the reading but I just opened a game to see if the clocks would change and it’s still just sitting at 1500 with a game open and not changing

I also did a scan with malware bytes (free version cause I’m poor 😂) and it didn’t find any malware, I booted the pc in safe mode just now to use ddu and was gonna re install drivers but I haven’t even removed them yet just booted in safe mode and they aren’t ramped up so I’m really confused, and it was all fine until I installed drivers again and it just ramped back up
