Fastest VPN

Anyone know which VPN would be the fastest/most secure?  Having a hard time deciding.

I personally use PureVPN. But it's a paid VPN solution. It offers dedicated IPs and NAT firewalls as addons, have never had issues connecting to their servers and you get a wide variety of servers.

From what I can tell they cap at 10MB/s download speed for constant downloads but that way above what most people get anyway and is completely reasonable.

I tried HSS and I found it very limiting, only 3 countries you can connect to so no choice of servers or countries. A basic interface that doesn't let you do much. After switching to a more advanced VPN provider I would never go back.

I tried HSS and I found it very limiting, only 3 countries you can connect to so no choice of servers or countries. A basic interface that doesn't let you do much. After switching to a more advanced VPN provider I would never go back.

As Linus said, hotspotshield is the fast and easy was to set up a vpn. Fast and easy are mostly related to basic products.

I also disagree entirely. Programs can have an "Advanced" and "Basic" view. HSS lacks a whole other part of it. PureVPN who I recommended earlier (, and are also probably not the only people that do this,) have a single button to connect that simply says connect and a settings tab with useful features such as a kill switch that automatically stops your internet if your VPN stops working and other useful features. You can go to an "intermediate" tab where you go to a world map and select where you want to connect and lastly you can go to a pane that shows a list of all the servers you can connect to. It can be simple and advanced at the same time.

 

HSS is very limited in this respect as well as having an unreliable service (from my "Elite" experience with them).

While we're on the topic, can you recommend any good or I guess at least decent FREE VPN's? Really don't have the money right now...

They don't exist, sorry, you need to pay for the bandwidth you use somehow. Remember you whole connection has to go through their server, and that costs money. A lot of VPn services offer a trail for a few days though so you could try a paid VPN out.

1) Does PureVPN keep any logs, IP Addresses, Timestamps, Bandwidth caps, Traffic or other data?

I seriously don't see anything wrong with the fact they keep logs of all the things listed. You are using their servers after all and sharing bandwidth with other users who paid the same amount as you. I would be really surprised if any VPN service didn't record the first three things listed and them recording how you use their software (into which you only enter details they provided you) should not be an issue for anyone.

I use WiTopia and when connecting to the closest server to me (Sydney server), I max out my internet connection (26mbits down).

Based on recommendations/testemonials from people on this forum and reports I've read on Torrentfreak I'd say Privateinternetaccess take the cake for an all rounder.

PRQ = requires only working email to be costumer and no logs

Proxy.sh only email and 90+ different ways to pay no logs whatsoever

VPNArea = only working email is enough if I remember right no logs either

PIA = only email is enough and no logs.

VikingVPN = doesn't log but asks pretty much private info like your name etc.

Please answer these questions first:

 

1) What are you going to use it for?

 

2) What do you mean by "fastest"? Pretty much any decent VPN provider will be fast enough to not bottleneck you. It's worth noting that you will always, always, always, get a slower Internet connection when you use a VPN. You will not be able to get a higher speed than what you are already paying your ISP for if that's what you thought.

 

3) What do you mean by "secure"? Do you mean in terms of privacy or the strength of the authentication and encryption? For the encryption you want AES-256 and SHA as the integrity check. In terms of privacy you can (sadly) never be sure. This is why I always say VPNs are completely useless if you want privacy. All VPN providers can potentially monitor your traffic, keep secret logs of what you do and things like that.

 

4) How much are you willing to spend?
