Hi Guys !

So i'm a few days from making my purchase and a prepared two different builds from AMD and one from INTEL.

And i really would like to have some help from this great community !

AMD

Build_AMD_425.jpg

AMD MSI R9 290 - 425€

= 1259,59

...........................................................................................................................................................................

INTEL

Computador_Intel_425.jpg

AMD MSI R9 290 - 425€

= 1259,90

So the main question is : what is the best build for my money and what is more future proof for about two to two and half years with out upgrading much ...

This system will be mainly for gamming and some digitalwork with photoshop mangastudios sketchbookpro.

THANKS !

Really they are the same but I'm a Intel fan because they just have a longer life span in my experiences. Yes AMD is a bit cheaper but  you get better life expectancy and better Temps with Intel.

My System now I5 4670k ,H100i, Z87X-D3H, 8GB of Black Muramba, 7970 Sapphire with backplate , Thermaltake chaser A31 black with blue accents ,AX 760 With Blue Cabels, Samsung 840 120gb SSD ,1TB Black ,256 Ultra Plus SanDisk

Intel build. The AM3+ platform is really old.

lol well if you could explain a little better why... then just say its old i really would appreciate that ... i know its getting old ... but in the future games will use more cores and maybe just maybe the AMD one is going to be a bit better ... i dont know if what im saying is a really stupid thing to say ... but hey ! that's why i'm asking for help !  :)

So if you could explain a little better your opinion would be great !

yeah i know that, that's why im going with Swiftech kolling kit ... to have the best cooling that i can get for my money. but the thing is i'm between the decision of going with 4 powerfull cores or 8 weak cores since games will start to use more and more cores down the road ....

I made this with www.geizhals.de so that is german pricing. I don't know the portugal prices tho. So that migth be to expensive in portugal. If it is in fact to expensive send me a link to the retailer you will be be buying from 1 x Western Digital WD Green 2TB, SATA 6Gb/s (WD20EZRX)

Total: 1280€

Thanks for the effort ... but that build would go for the 1550 to 1600 price point ... and that is to much for me but thanks anyway :)

But you don't know if that company sells out doors of Germany ?

ofc the intel one. but if you go with amd get the fx 8350,the fx 9370 is just an overclocked 8350.

look at the fx 8150 bulldozer. 8 core and stuff, and the ppl who bought it said the same thing as you. now an i3 is way better than that for games.http://www.hardcoreware.net/intel-core-i3-4340-review/3/

You would probably have to pay a bunch of taxes. So that isn't worth it. But you could send me a link to your retailer and i will see if i can do something to make your build a little better.

hmm .. that makes me think alot ! ... another question for 2 years without upgrading the cpu ... do you think it will be able to handle the new games without throttling ?

With a 4670k or a 4770k yeah. No problem

okey ... and another question also ... for colling would the Noctua NH-14 fit in the Fractal Design ARC mini ? because im can get that cooler way cheaper then the swiftech one about 30€

Thanks !

Why in the world would you want that cooler on a 4770k? Or anyhow. If i were you and wanted an air cooled dual tower design, id go with the dark rock 3 pro. But being sensible, get a single tower cooler, or a all in one water cooler.

But if you insist on that, i have no iea. Check the clearance of the case (its in is specs) and the height of the D14, abd you will see ;)

well i want to overclock the 4670k to 4.5ghz stable underload and on a max temperature of 65ºC... that's why i want a nice cooler...

I noticed the Twin Frozr R9 290 is out of stock. So you might wanna change that later. Also I'm not a big fan of AIO but you can probably oc your cpu just fine with a tower heatsink of lesser price than that H60.  I couldnt find the HDD section so you should add that later too. Photoshop LOVES ram so I put 16gb there.

Not much improvement over your original lists except for this is slightly cheaper and more purposeful for you. There wasn't that much choices to choose from in that site. Use that extra for misc stuffs such as peripherals, case fans,bling2,etc2.

The 2nd gen FX CPUs (43XX, 63XX, 83XX etc.) perform significantly better than the 1st gen FX (41XX, 61XX, 81XX) CPUs.

To the OP: As others have said, there's no such thing as "future proof" when it comes to building a PC. You should choose your parts based on your primary usage, budget and personal preference. Then, within your budget, you want to choose the newest and most advanced parts currently available to take advantage of any possible upgrade paths and options down the road. This is not easy and the future can be difficult to predict and they are constantly changing CPU socket types.

So the best thing to do is to pick what you prefer in the present. Both builds will provide stellar performance for many years.

why are you telling me that i just made a point about 8 cores.

however, look at 2500K. and look at 8150. 2500K still rocks

Because there's more to it than just the number of cores and my point was why would you compare the worst example of a particular CPU series? You're saying look how crappy the 8150 is for an example of a 8-core CPU, while ignoring the 8350 which is quite a lot better and has a proven track record as a very good gaming CPU that performs on par with the latest i5's.

The 8150 (and all the FX CPUs from that first series) were not great to begin with.

dude i was talking about old cpus to explain something for the OP lol.read my first post in this thread and to what i replied. but however fx 8350 does not perform on par with haswell i5.
