I was puttiin the windows installation tool on a cheapo USB i picke up for that specifc purpose and halfway thru windows media installer stopped saying there was a problem with drive.

and now the usb is unformatted/ in RAW storage format. Tryint to format in NTFS, FAT32 or exFAT doesnt work and simply just doesn't complete.

Have i fuc*ed up my USB?

now to be clear i did buy a very cheap USB and this might simply be karma biting me in the ass but hopefully its still salvageable.

PC: Ryzen 5 2600, 16GB 3200mhz RAM (8GBx2), Gigabyte B550M DS3H, GTX 1050 2GB, 650W Semi-Modular PSU80+ Gold

Phone: Poco F3 8GB + 256GB

Audio: Samson SR850s

Sound Card: SoundBlaster Play 4 USB sound card

IEM: planning to get the KBEAR KS2s
Please be patient with me, I'm fatally dumb and its honestly a miracle I've made it this far

Narrator: Yes.

Maybe try to brute reformat it with something like Paragon?

ok so tried to do the shortest wipe i could which was 4 hours and it interrupted something about I/O, and in my opinion i think these are dead. its not a big loss i gottem for a literally RM5 (1USD) so now i learned my lesson. maybe at somepoint ill go through the hassle of fixing these but ill just buy a proper cheapo usb 3.0 drive instead.

Was probably one of the USB drives where they claim it is more then it is actual is.  I believe Linus did a video on some cheap ones a while ago showing that exact problem, buy this cheap 4TB USB drive when it is only 512GB or something like that.

You could try just formatting it partially.. like if it is a 2TB drive for example, try creating a 512GB partition and formatting that..   Or if it a 16GB try an 8 GB partition
