Go to solution Solved by Hairless Monkey,

You can install a PCIe to M.2 adapter in your motherboard in the second PCIe X16 slot, and you will be able to use both drives.

However, that second PCIe X16 slot on your motherboard runs at PCIe 2.0 X4. You would need at least a PCIe 3.0 X4 slot to get the full performance from a PCIe 3.0 NVME drive. The result is that you will get about half of the rated speed of the drive. It will still be faster than a SATA SSD, so this may be acceptable to you.

SilverStone Technology M.2 PCIE Adapter for SATA or PCIE NVMe SSD with Advanced Thermal Solution (ECM22)......

can i use this for extra nvme ssds. In B450 Ds3h motherboard With Samsung nvme 980 500GB

DO tell me because I m running 980 nvme 500 gb And when i upgrade i wanna use both nvme ssds

Okay Is there any motherboard That Supports both PCIe 3.0 X4 under $135 I don't know much but i have all the parts i will build after this week

And Do tell me That PCIe 3.0 X16 or PCIe 2.0 X16 Affect Graphics Card Performance

This one has two M.2 slots, no need for the adapter.

The speed of that second PCIe slot does not affect the GPU, the GPU goes in the first slot which is PCIe 3.0 x16. Otherwise, yes, 3.0 vs 2.0 can affect performance.

No problem, there are others—some better—that would be under your budget, too. For instance the Aorus Pro P is a pretty good board.

  • 1 month later...

I have I guess the same question. I have a dell 3020 optiplex and it's the legecy bios if that is what the legacy is about. I don't know very much about computers but got this one for a hundred dollars and trying to learn a littl about them. I upgraded the memory stixs to 16 GB and I have a geforce gt-730 graphics card in it that I installed. It has 4GB ddr3. I still have issues opening a few games. I have an asus laptop that is new and it has 4GB ddr5. The gtx 1050 Ti has 4GB ddr5 that I want to purchase but it is pcie 3.0 x16 and my graphics card slot is 2.0 x16. I see it says it effects ProFormance the 3.0 in the 2.0 slot. I would just like to know if it would be a bad idea to purchase the 3.0 card. I'm at a point that I could buy a new computer cheaper than keep working with this one but my main goal was to try to learn about computers and with where I'm at with this one is really amazing to me how fast it boots and runs the games that it dose run which is pretty much everything I have tried. I just kindia like the gears of war games and it won't play a couple of them but my asus will. If it's worth keep trying to make it better I'm all for it but this will be the thired graphics card that I have bought for it because I don't really know what I'm doing. If I had help knowing what to get I would just keep going until I get it like new becaause with all the time I have put in it and the way it can go now I would love to see it do better than the new asus I have. just kinda a pride thing that I could actually do it never having the oportunity to use a computer until a year and a half ago when my niece gave me a older chrombook. this dell is windows 10.
