1440p budget gaming monitor?

Right now I have a FHD 144 Hz Monitor and want to step up to 1440p for gaming and for work but it's not editing.

 

So my main points are IPS or VA-Panel, Freesync and more than 60-75 Hz. I'm looking for 27" Displays.

 

So Far i found these as potentials:

Gigabyte G27Q,

Gigabyte M27Q,

LG 27GL850-B

 

They're all about 300-350€ , thats about 350-420 USD.

 

Does anybody have experience with one of these or other recommendations?

I have an AOC 35" Ultrawide, and love it.  Performs well, and the 10k reviews on that monitor say similar.  It's what I would go with, as the others are too pricey IMO.

 

Others can chime in of course, but that's my 2 cents.

Mine right now is an AOC 24" C24G1 and it's great for the price i bought it so another AOC would be great.

But the LG 27GL850-B is in my area about 10 dollars more, and it has an IPS Panel.

I prefer VA for gaming, personally.  IPS is nice for what it does but I like the responsiveness and contrast of the VA.  

 

If you like your AOC, which is VA... I'd stick with what you know. Or grab that IPS and see how you like it.  Really can't go wrong with either.

I like VA for the deeper blacks. IPS has more consistent pixel response times, though, so may be better in faster games.

 

That said, I see no spec for the contrast on that particular AOC monitor, and the brightness of 250cd/m² does not thrill me.

If I have to choose between these two, I'd pic the AOC over the LG, but If I were looking for a 1440p monitor for myself, I would try to find something with a higher peak brightness, around 350cd/m². I'd start with this parametric filter:

Smart.  I don't concern myself with brightness due to my office, but I can see where that's a consideration.  Good advice.

All 3 IPS monitors you originally posted are objectively good monitors. Realistically they will all deliver a pretty similar experience overall with only minor differences. If you play in a dark room a lot, then rather have a look at VA panels. If your room is lit up, then you can choose IPS and will likely not notice the lower contrast. The better response times, viewing angles and colors can be a very noticeable upgrade over VA.

 

To be clear i don't hate VA. As a matter of fact i use one myself. But IPS is overall the better pick for most people. So i'd keep it in between the 3 mentioned in the OP.

 

The LG 27GL850 is the fastest, but has a low contrast ratio even compared to IPS monitors. Me and my friends bought several of these and none of them ever had any problems and they are great monitors. And the difference between it's 700:1 contrast and other IPS monitor's 1000:1 is not that big of a deal. In the end all IPS monitors are low-contrast displays.

 

The M27Q is the overall best out of these but comes with a BGR panel, which brings it's own disadvantages. (Blurrier text in certain circumstances)

 

The G27Q is a overall slightly worse variant of the M27Q, but that doesn't mean it's bad. The main difference is that it ditches the BGR panel, making it the better choice for people that work with text often and do a lot of reading.
