Trying to find a suitable motherboard for a R5 5600X however, a warning "Some AMD X570 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vermeer CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions."keeps popping up on pcpartpicker. Tried the other recommended motherboards such as the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk etc and the warning sign still appears.

+Cannot update board since I do not have another CPU

+first semi pre built pc buying

Should i continue with the suggested motherboards pcpartpicker recommends?

Ok, so you're in the same boat hundreds if not thousands of people have found themselves in since the beginning of the year, and it was much worse back then.

Long and short of it is B550 and X570 were shipping prior to Ryzen 5000 being a thing. This means that most of not all needed BIOS updates to be compatible. These days, depending on how long your board sat in a warehouse somewhere, its likely to just work out of the box BUT you never know.

Your options include buying a motherboard that has USB BIOS flashback capability which you really should do anyway, there are many options. This means the motherboard can be flashed with just a USB stick and nothing else installed. Many resources online about this and it varies in method from one manufacture to another. I know for instance that most if not all Asus STRIX board support this feature.

Another option would be to use AMD's CPU loan program to get a 3000 series for flashing purposes or just find a local shop that's willing to let you borrow one temporarily.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Asus BIOS Flashback feature and found it painless with my B550-i STRIX I bought earlier this year. MSI, Gigabyte I know for sure have similar features. The MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk you were looking at does indeed include this feature, you can usually tell by looking at the back panel and you'll see a BIOS flash button and usually a marked USB port.
