Hi, I need advice with choosing a cpu to pair with my rtx 3070ti. At this time, it will be used solely for gaming.

I have almost the whole setup, except for the processor which I'm undecided on. The idea is to play in 1440p WQHD at 60+ fps, mostly singleplayers, because I'm sure any choice will achieve enough performance in competitive games. https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/zBTL3Z

I was planning to buy a 5600x and replace it in 2-3 years when the new generation settles down, but I'm not sure if it's not better to go for the 58/59. Keep it for longer and replace the graphics card then instead.

Budget allows, but is it 'worth' it? Because I would also have to replace my arctic 34 esport duo with better cooler.

With the future AMD generations possibly switching sockets, I'd personally go for a higher end CPU and upgrade Motherboard, RAM (DDR5 could be a thing in 2-3 years) and a new CPU.

So for now, I'd go for a 5800X with the arctic cooler. 8 Cores should be enough for 1440p. And you the performance gain to a 5900X is only marginal (in gaming, not multitasking of course).

Great GPU Choice! Hopefully you got it at a fair price

Do you think the arctic will be sufficient for the undervolted 5800x?

Could be enough, but if you want to spend a few bucks more on the cooler, then a better Air cooler or a solid AIO would do the job.

Air coolers like:

Noctua NH-U12A and upwards

Be quiet dark rock and upwards

Scythe Fuma 2

Arctic freezer 50

AIOs like:

arctic liquid freezer II 240mm and upwards

almost any other quality AIO, 240mm and upwards. The Arctic is just on of the best performers for its pricetag!
