Need help with extending WiFi.

Currently I'm using adapters which have worked great, up until I got a sensitive microphone, so I need a new way to extend a connection. 

Sadly my house is crap when it comes to networking. I have 2 rj11 ports, 1 downstairs and 1 upstairs, the 1 upstairs has my router connected to it. I was thinking a access point might work but I'm not sure if I could plug any into a rj11 port.

 

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Here is the connector that I could plug something into. The connector looks it's a lot older than me so I'm not sure if anything would work.

Edit. I don't think that is a rj11 connector I have no idea what it is.
