So my main GPU is a 3070Ti but I bought a cheap GT 710 for the DVI port and I feel like I am not getting the FPS I maybe should with the 3070Ti having compared my results to ones that off youtube videos and benchmarks i've seen online. Could the GT 710 be hindering the performance? Even though the GT 710 is never under any sustained load? If the GT 710 is gonna be losing me performance it's easily returned to Amazon just wanted a bit of outside opinion.

What performance are you getting and what performance do you think you should get according to Youtube? Need to remember, videos on YT are at very best case scenario fully cleaned systems with zero extra junk normal users install that takes up precious space and resources. So have a 5-10% difference between you and them is expected.

So the other GPU probably isn't causing me any issues in the performance department. maybe its cos my system isn't fresh etc?

If you remove the GT710, does your FPS go up?

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Well you have to give us what you're seeing on your side and what you expect based on what you see on YT so we can compare and see if thats the likely scenario.

I think thats my best bet to try can I just disable it in device manager or do I physically have to take it out of my system?

You could disable it, but one thumb screw and a push tab doesn't take much longer either and completely eliminates it.

Out of curiosity, like @Skiiwee29asked, what performance are you getting, and what were you hoping to get? What CPU and RAM if we're going down that route too

So I was watching a benchmark video and the guy got 72fps average 1440p ultra settings with a regular RTX 3070 not even a Ti. whereas I only got 68 FPS average @1080p with mimmicked settings. My CPU is an i9-9900K @4.5GHz and 32GB 3200Mhz corsair vengeance.

Is there a specific reason you bought an entire GPU for the DVI port instead of a DP to DVI adapter?

What game were you running? What was CPU usage like? If you go into task manager, you can click more details in the bottom left, performance tab and then click CPU. It'll give you a graph for each thread. Right click the big graph, and change to Logical Processors. That'll tell you if one core is working really hard because a game won't utilize 8c 16t, like most Esports titles.

Yes there is a reason my second monitor for some silly reason will only run 1080p@144hz through dual link DVi which the 30 series do not have so I bought the 710 for the dual link DVi port so i could run my second monitor at the rated resolution and hertz

What about your CPU usage? If just one core is being utilized to 100%, but the rest are at 0%, it'll still report as 12.5% (100/8) in game, so that's not a good way to get your usage.

So I have ran some tests with the GPU in and out of the PC turns out it was giving me a 10-20% performance hit so I took it out and will just have to suck up 60hz over 144 on the second monitor

The reason is that as soon as you put in that GT710 in the pcie 2 slot your main slot will be limited to pcie 3.0 x8 (instead of x16) which cuts your bandwidth to the 3070Ti in half.
