MSI MPG B550

650w 80+ gold segatep PSU

2x8gb 3600 mhz ram

thats really all the important information, but what i wonder is if the mobo is good to go with a r5 5600x, i see some people say yes but i need a bios update, so im a little unsure.

It is "compatible" but unless specifically stated, it may require a BIOS update to make it work out of the box.

If you don't have an older Ryzen CPU, make sure the motherboard has a BIOS Flashback button (I think that one does but double-check), that will enable you to flash the BIOS without a CPU installed but you'll need to download the BIOS and put it on a USB stick first so you'll need another PC, laptop or someone to download it for you.

Some manufacturers will put a sticker or change their artwork to specifically state "Ready for Zen 3" or something along those lines that would indicate you don't need a BIOS update.

The bios is most probably up to date anyways. Otherwise you can get tutorials on how to update a bios on Youtube.

There are at least five different Models that start with "MSI MPG B550". But they probably indeed all feature a BIOS flash button - but that's easy to double-check via MSI's website.
