With BIOS updates, it got more supported CPUs

This is 100% correct. Most B550 boards will support the latest Zen 3 CPUs.

Also many B450 boards have support for 5th gen ryzen CPUs

That's the B450M-A compatibility list. You have to look at the B550M-A compatibility list.
