upgrade

Budget (including currency): us$1600 or ~uk£1100

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: mostly AAA titles and some CPU/GPU reliant software

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

  • I have two part lists. amd and intel both for $1600. It would be highly appreciated if you could tell me on which one would be better and what I could change in the list. I already own the case and I think it doesn't need changing.
  • no extra peripherals needed
  • right now I have an CPU i5 5470, intel stock cooler, asus h81m-k Motherboard, msi GTX 970 4gb, 8 GB of RAM, HDD 2TB of space I could use in the new build,
  • I'm planning to buy when there are reasonable prices for the 30 series card
  • Lastly I'm aiming to play games at a resolution of 1080 or higher. I'm also fine at playing at 60Hz

So looking at benchmarks the i7 10700K does out perform the Ryzen 5 3600.

Just a matter of budget really. Is the performance increase worth the extra ~$50?

Good luck on finding the Graphics card.
