My windows doesn't register my M.2 drive at all

I recently built my 1st pc, and so far everything's been running fine, except for my M.2 SSD. Even though the drive appears in my BIOS, it isn't registered by my OS in files, or in 'disk management.' I have managed to find it in 'device manager,' and was able to do things like update the SSDs drivers, however I couldn't format or populate the drive. I haven't been able to find any guides to fixing this issue online, so any help would be appreciated. For reference, my motherboard is an ASUS Prime B450-KII and my M.2 drive is a WD Blue 500 GB (M.2 2280) (running on windows 10.) Thank you for any advice i do get
