Laptop Ram Upgrade.

I am using my old laptop as a server right now and I have 8gb ddr3 1600mhz. I want to upgrade the ammount of ram I have so I used the crucial system spec thing to find out what ram I should get, but I was wondering if I can get any ddr3 1600mhz laptop ram instead of getting the exact same type. I don't know if its different to a desktop. Thanks

If you get different ram, try to get the timings as close as possible. It should be fine, if the timings arent very different.

Do you mean the clock speed ?

Clockspeed and timing are not the same and he means the timings. The three numbers listed  behind the speed in the specification. Usually start with "CL**".
