Hello, I am quite new to building computers and in the midst of building my new PC I ran into an issue. Things started out well until I had finished putting together everything when I attempted to boot it up. When I pressed the power button nothing happened. So I went back and triple-checked everything to make sure it was in its right spot. The CPU, RAM, GPU, Case Fans were all installed correctly. I then assumed it was an issue with the PSU so I checked to see if the cables were in the right places and they were. I then checked to see if the PSU was still alive by using a paperclip in the 20+4 cable and the PSU turned on. I then tried to turn on the computer with the paperclip in all the lights and fans booted up but there was no display which I assumed was because the entire 20+4 cable wasn't entirely in. Is it possible that some of the pins in the 24 Pin socket are broken or just don't work?

make sure you plugged the power button cable in the power switch pins on front panel header

plug the 24 pin ad cpu 8 pin

there should be at least 1 led on motherboard as soon as power supply is connected and switched on (if there's on/off switch on psu) - the psu will send 5v stand-by to mobo as soon as it's on and connected. Chipset gets 5v stand-by and waits for on button.

at first boot it's normal to take even up to 1 minute for bios to initialize stuff and show something on scree. be patient.

if no luck, a bios update may be required. some mobos will support updating bios without cpu installed, by having the bios on a usb stick and pressing a button.

no , impropr 24pin insertion is not your problem here.

Thank you, I waited about two minutes and everything turned on and there was display on the monitor. I guess the stress of building a PC for the first time got to me. Once again thanks for your help.
