Running Raid0

Hey Guys,
Im thinking about running two Wd blue 1tb drives in raid0. Im not really interested in the performance boost(is it a lot?), I mainly want it because I want all my Music, Movies and Pictures in one place and to not have to remember which drive I put what on. Can anyone recommend it or should I just put up with stuff being in two separate locations? Does it increase the chance of one drive dying? My OS is on a separate SSD if you were wondering.

I wouldn't recommend RAID 0. If one HDD in a non-raid 0 config you lose the data on that drive only, if even one of them dies in a raid 0 config... You lose it ALL.

 

My dad had to deal with that recently. Bad times.

Yes for sure and for that kind of data you will not benefot from the extra speed.

Pretty much, yeah. Unless you own a NAS to do daily backups to.

I RAID 0 all OS disk! Speed baby, that is what its all about! I do back things up though.

 

Those scared of RAID 0 have just not used it or fall for the two disks one fails all fails but one disk one fails S.O.S.! So no real loss unless you don't backup. Then again you should backup any RAID if its valuable data, gaming profile or game installs who cares, just re-download, will take time but hey its there so no big woo!
